10 Ways to be productive while working from home.

Working from home can appear to be relaxing with sunshine and rainbows, cable-knit sweaters and steamy cups of cocoa. It can be but it rarely is. It takes some serious dedication and discipline to master the tasks of the day without caving in to distraction.

It took me some time, when I started my online business, to figure out the most efficient work patterns for my day.

If you can lumigan buy master these 10 things, you’ll be productive when you need to be. You’ll also have time for the things that you dreamed of, back when you had to go to the office from 9-5!

Choose a spot in your house that you actually want to spend time in. It doesn’t have to be the darkest room in the house or the room that nobody enters. However, if it is, fill it with warm lighting and a comfortable area for a desk, office chair and some room for files, supplies etc. Maybe it’s just a nook. Make sure it’s far enough from the high-traffic areas of your home. A designated space will definitely take your productivity to the next level. I chose a bedroom that has a window on the small side. A couple of lamps and some colourful artwork elevated it to a place I enjoy being in and an environment where I can focus.

Do what you need to do to feel like you can conquer your day and get it done first. If you need a hot shower or a quick workout, a powerful morning will lead to a powerful workday. The saying ‘get up, dress up and show up’ applies to working from home as well. Hanging out in your pajamas all day won’t bring on the posture you need to conquer your workday so decide on a few things you’re going to do every morning, no-fail. For example: get out of bed when the alarm goes off, make the coffee, hit the shower OR that…with a workout thrown in!

3. Figure out your peak performance hours.

You’ve likely figured out when your body is ready for an optimal, physical work out! But when are you most creative and sharp? I have gone through phases of being a night owl as well as a complete morning person. Observe your energy levels to discover when, naturally, you’re most productive and creative and choose those times to schedule your work. Listen to your natural rhythm and go with what feels best for you.

4. Schedule yourself, down to every 15 minutes of your day

The flexibility of working at home allows for leisure and social time. However, scheduling the work part and the fun part of your day allows you to still get the tasks done that are most important for the day. Decide what you’ll be doing and where you will be doing it down to the minute. Having a shower? Schedule it. Taking the dog for a walk? Schedule it. Give yourself daily deadlines and stick to them. If you give yourself all day to do something that is exactly how long it will take!

5. Live by your lists and focus

Spent some time during your morning coffee creating your list for the day. It’s very satisfying to check off your tasks as you complete them. A list on paper is tactile and will feel more legit. If new tasks come up just create tomorrow’s list while you work. At the end of the day review your list for the following day and try your best not to have any rollover! Shine a light on one task at a time you’ll find that you’ll do a better job and you’ll also finish quicker and more efficiently. Set a timer for a task and try to complete it with a little bit of pressure. You’ll likely get it done more swiftly. This will keep you from looking around your house thinking ‘hmm better fold that laundry’ or ‘I need to empty the dishwasher’. Those tasks can wait until they come up in the schedule!

6. Set boundaries with family, friends and social channels.

Make it clear to your well-meaning family and friends that you are actually at work. It’s not likely that your friends would just show up at your Corporate office job any time to hang out or randomly or call you at work to share their stories with you. Small social breaks can add up over time and steal hours eventually from your scheduled work. If you use social media as a tool for your business, try to get through what’s on the list without being distracted by adorable animal videos and heading down a 20 minute rabbit hole. Choose your break times to be social.

7. Avoid the domestic chores that are right in front of you!

Personally I try to start my day off with as little chaos in my field of vision as possible. I can task through my schedule easily that way however if that’s not then schedule it in as a work task. You can get caught up hitting room to room because one mess leads to another guaranteed and it can inject an hour or two of wasted time into your day before you even realize it!

8. Mix it up

Work from a coffee shop once a week, take calls in your car, just make sure that you change it up to keep it fresh. Get around others that are working as well. Study spaces also have a work vibe, sneak in to a nook on a nearby university campus for some variety. Being out in the world will change up your perspective.

9. Take breaks

Head outside and take in some sunshine just as you would in any job. Go for a walk and breathe. I love that I have a business where I can set my laptop up out on my patio and watch my dog go for a swim. I do my best to schedule myself one beauty treat a week. I can always get an appointment time because my schedule is what I make it. Remember you’re the boss and a good boss also knows when it’s quittin’ time!

10. Be flexible

Flexibility was likely a top-of-the-list reason for working from home. Friends and family will likely try to enlist you for some fun now and then and guess what, you’re flexible! Take advantage of that when you can. You can get back on track with your schedule no problem because you have everything you need to do that. The more you practice your organization and scheduling the less time you’ll need to do the work.

Finding this online business for me, was life-changing. I had ideas swirling in my mind but I had no business sense or a solid business plan. I wasn’t even clear on what a business model was. And if I was to dive in, I wanted it to be worth my while. Are you ready to Launch? Let’s chat today.

Head into the New Year with Intention.

In years past I have always had the resolutions like ‘eat healthier’, ‘be nicer’, ‘work out more’, the general stuff that we all try to be year-round. And start the year with a bang, meaning one really successful week starting January 1st! And then it crumbles and blows away like dust in the wind.

This year after starting my business, I felt different. Motivated to make some firm decisions, make huge changes in my life and actually set out to conquer some mind-blowing goals. I started to make this list, just for me, as I was out walking the dog. As I was working on some personal development the pieces started coming together for this post. So below are the things that I’ve been working on for me. Hopefully, they create a bit of an outline for you.

1. Put together your year in review.

Take a look at the 5 main areas that are usually suspect for improvement, for all of us. This will give you a sense of you where you currently are, what you have accomplished this past year and what you’ll need to give extra attention to!

  1. Physical
  2. Financial
  3. Career
  4. Relationships
  5. Family

Ask yourself these questions for each.

  • How did I improve myself in this area?
  • Did I experience personal satisfaction here?
  • What were the accomplishments in this area? Was there a breakthrough or was I perhaps close to one?
  • Did I remove anything in this area that wasn’t working for me?

2. Focus on what you want really want for your life.

With your ‘year in review’ in front of you look forward and ask yourself where you want to be.

How do you really see yourself living day by day what is your dream life looks like. What are you doing each day. Who is there with you? How do you feel physically and mentally? Are you hanging out with your dog or cat? Are you driving a kick-ass sports car? Are you drinking more water? Really get into the minutia of the day-to-day and put yourself into the lifestyle.

Ask yourself these questions to really dig down and define what lifestyle you’re aiming for. If there’s a certain way you want to be spending your time ask yourself why you aren’t doing that already. What’s holding you back from doing these things and what’s in your way? Can you re-prioritize things in your life to put you into that reality?

When you think about that lifestyle it might not be just about money. You may already have the means to be doing the things that you’re dreaming of however you have to set your priorities. It could just be that you’re stuck in a cycle of tasks that could be changed just simply by sitting down and thinking about how you manage a day.

Also think about how your life would be different if you had endless amounts of money and finances and paying bills were never a concern. Put yourself into that reality. Is it that different? You might find that the majority of ‘wants’ in your life are similar minus only the material things. Money helps but it’s not the be-all cure.

After all, temporary happiness comes when we pursue money, fulfillment comes when we pursue meaning.

3. Set BIG goals

Dream up the craziest goals you can think of for yourself for this year. Map them out in detail from yearly to monthly to daily and decide to just GO FOR IT.

Chances are you don’t believe that you can accomplish these goals simply because you haven’t achieved them already.

This is logic speaking. Logic only allows us to re-create the past because it’s based on certainties. Be open-minded and goal oriented and you can move yourself beyond that. After all you’ve tried logic for this long and where has it gotten you? Just sayin.

4. Tie up loose ends

Consolidate your leftover to-do’s from the year. Everything from small projects around the house, errands, tasks that you can complete in just a couple of hours. Get that stuff over with and you can clear your mind. If it’s something that is too big to do quickly then maybe you need reconsider. Maybe it’s more of a goal than a to-do item. Get sorted so that you can have a clean start.

5. Put yourself first

You’re the only one that can do this! With your arsenal of goals and your cleansing to-do list set out this year to take care of yourself.

Don’t worry about offending anybody after all it’s likely that they put themselves first in their world. You’ve seen it in others, and view this ability as an admirable trait. You may even be a little jealous of that!

Be the leader in your own life set the goals that you want just for you, first. You will inevitably be a better person for it and successes will follow.

If you’re ready to Launch a Lifestyle that you thought you could only dream of get in touch with me today to find out how it’s possible.

Here’s to your Best Year yet!

An online business that ticked all of my boxes

Dreaming about the Start-Up

The first businesses that I imagined myself starting were the visual “look at me owning my own shop” kind of places. I saw myself welcoming the public into my gorgeously designed coffee shop or retail boutique of some sort.

And then I woke up.
I thought about all of the hours that I would have to put in, just to manage staff, do my marketing, actually be present at a retail location that would probably cost ridiculous amounts just to lease. Yes, a run-on sentence because it felt like run-on problems! And likely, at least three years before I’d see any reasonable profit. Not glamorous at all! I would basically be buying myself a job that came with countless hours of unpaid overtime.

This set me on the search for business platforms that were not brick and mortar. I started looking at affiliate marketing and right away knew that I wasn’t going to put in countless hours for no return. That was immediately OUT!

I then began sifting through a bunch of online business opportunities and none of the numbers made sense, many of them just looked sketchy. The bottom line of many of these businesses was MLM. I would never work my butt off so that somebody else would make 75% of the profit. I’d be better off having a job. And having to deal with ridiculous amounts of stock, having an inventory to keep track of, jeez, too much!

What if I never sold the product that I bought up front? Not to mention I have been suckered into many home parties and bought products that I didn’t ever use because who needs $75 worth of tote bags? Yes…that is a real business! I also thought how many groups of friends do I really have and how could I rally that many people to keep my income at a level that would pay my bills?

After some research and a complete list of things I didn’t want I came across this business that offered a list of everything I could have asked for.

When I found this opportunity it was something I had to take a hard look at. This business ticked off every box even the boxes I didn’t know I had!

The product is exceptional

I can work from anywhere

Unlimited income

There is No glass ceiling in this business. The compensation plan is outstanding. The earning potential is unlimited and it is a level playing field.

People reach out to me to learn more about the opportunity

I do not have to enlist my friends to make a living and I don’t do any cold calling. That was a big one for me because I’m not a sales-person.

I am connecting daily with our world-wide community. My business systems are all set up for me and the training shows you step-by-step how to actually succeed. There’s nothing hidden and with a level playing field, everyone can succeed.

5 Reasons I was Ready to LAUNCH My Own Online Business

5 Reasons to Launch your own online business

Let’s just get right into it!

1. I kept rolling through that nine-to-five cycle and would wait the entire year to have that short vacation.

I’ve had creative jobs my entire life. I spent 20 years as a hairstylist, running my own business, I moved into graphic design and from there and had established myself in a successful marketing career. I began to experience the signs of career burnout. Every day just rolled into the next and with little time away from the office and the commute, I was feeling trapped in the hamster wheel.

2. My top priorities are family, friends and lifestyle. My work should fit into my lifestyle. Not the other way around.

I was putting the time in only to realize that I was getting paid and not compensated for lost time with family and friends. Countless events like birthdays, weddings and other meaningful events with family and friends that I was missing out on. I just felt like there had to be more to life.

3. I was ready for the type of compensation that would reflect how much I was willing to put in. Ready for that limitless earning potential.

In my career, I was at a point where I would, at most, only qualify for that tiny percentage-raise each year unless I was to go back to school or change careers. I felt super stuck. I didn’t want to spend another few years in school to only have my hopes and dreams dashed and end up where I already was. Knowing that I was a self-starter and motivated to go my own way I started researching online business opportunities to see what was out there. There was so much noise out there. It made my head spin. I stayed the course because I knew there would be something just right for me. I had seen some people around me doing multi-level marketing and had a real distaste for it as I knew I didn’t want to be paying somebody else for my success or marketing anything to friends and family.

4. I was craving personal development that would allow me to break through my limiting beliefs (that I didn’t even know that I had!).

Craving that “more” I knew there was something missing. Never having been a proponent of personal development, I started looking inwards. A few clicks here, a few clicks there and I started to discover this whole new world of learning and development opportunities. Feeling open to my own evolution as a student in this new realm I discovered that I had so many goals that had been buried and that…

5. I am a powerful, strong person with above-average goals and not satisfied with a mediocre existence. I want to EXPERIENCE life on my terms!

Excited and armed with these self-discoveries I came across a past client of mine, on Facebook, that had created a post about her new-found financial independence, time-freedom in her business and impacting peoples’ lives for the better. I was curious!

I didn’t hesitate to get in touch with her and she interviewed me for the opportunity. The business was in the personal development and success education industry. A $64B industry, btw, and something that I felt excited about! It felt almost serendipitous. I could quickly see the big picture for myself. The business opportunity came with full training, all of the online business systems needed to run it daily and global community of non-stop support.

I took some time to think it through, as it was a huge step. A few things came to mind as I thought about where I was already and where I COULD be. I saw something in the opportunity that I couldn’t pass up and I decided that nothing could stop me.

I moved forward and have never looked back. I am my own boss! Along with this business comes a community of support and collaboration with like-minded people, other business owners who are genuinely interested in the success of others. Every day is as motivating as the last.

I have had success being mobile with this business, traveling around Europe this past summer (wifi connections are abundant!) without missing a beat. I look forward to the upcoming events in amazing, international locations with this community that I have grown to admire.
